No more MQM offices in Punjab: CM
Daily Times, October 7,2006
ISLAMABAD: Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has ordered all district coordination officers (DCO) and PML district heads not to allow the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) to open any new party office in the province. Sources said the PML leadership does not want the MQM to gain ground in the Punjab and that this was the reason Elahi, who is also the PML Punjab president, had ordered the closure of all existing MQM offices in the province besides disallowing them to open new offices. On the other hand, sources said that MQM chief Altaf Hussain had ordered MQM workers to continue opening offices in the Punjab. online
