Pakistan: Musharraf's Best Days Likely Behind Him

Pakistani President Gen. Pervez Musharraf called for the provision of natural gas to most of the country by the end of 2007. This and other domestic moves suggest that Musharraf, recognizing his weakening position, is engaged in countermeasures ahead of the February 2008 general elections. Regardless of how successful his opponents are in mounting a campaign against him, Musharraf has passed the pinnacle of his rule.
