6 Maj-Generals promoted
Karachi, Mangla, Multan Corps to have new commanders

ISLAMABAD: Three newly-promoted three-star generals; Lt-Gen Ahsan Azhar Hayat, Lt-Gen Sajad Akram and Lt-Gen Sikandar Afzal were appointed new commanders of Karachi, Mangla and Multan Corps in a promotion and reshuffle of senior military officers on command and staff positions in Pakistan Army.
Though these promotions and reshuffle were on the cards, the commanders of Karachi and Mangla 1-Strike Corps Ñ Lt-Gen Syed Athar Ali and Lt-Gen Syed Sabahat Ali have been shifted as Director-General Joint Staff Headquarters and Chairman Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) Wah respectively.
Incumbent Corps Commander Mangla Javed Alam, present DG JSHQ Lt-Gen Tirmazi and Chairman POF Maj-Gen Javed Ahmd are going to retire on completion of their service.
The ISPR announced promotions of five Major Generals, which included Maj-Gen Ahsan Azhar Hayat (presently Commandant PMA Kakul), Maj-Gen Nadeem Ahmed (DVCG and Deputy Chairman ERRA), Maj-Gen Sajad Akram (NAB Lahore), Maj-Gen Mohammad Zaki (ISI), Maj-Gen Sikandar Afzal (ISI) and Maj-Gen Ijaz Ahmed Bakhshi (Weapons and Equipment in GHQ).
