Love marriages damaging social values: SC
Staff Report

LAHORE: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday observed that the growing trend of love marriages among the youth was damaging moral values and the social customs.

The court made these remarks while hearing an appeal challenging the quashment of a hudood case against a man, Atif. Atif’s father-in-law, Amanat Ali, had registered a case against him. The court also issued notices to the Gujranwala district police officer and the Sabzi Mandi police station house officer, directing them to appear before the court with the case’s record on 20th. Amanat Ali’s lawyer, Khalil Ahmed, said that Atif had persuaded his client’s daughter Mariam to elope and marry him.
